What is a Lilikoi?

Lilikoi is the Hawaiian name for PASSION FRUIT.  We have chosen this delicious, tropical fruit to represent our brand because it not only has a very long list of health benefits, it is also a fruit that invokes a strong feeling of enthusiasm and excitement.  We are passionate about providing our customers with high-quality activewear products that provide sun protection and style!  We take great pride in our brand, connection to Hawaii and Brazil, and protection of the environment.

Can all Lilikoi clothes be used in the water?

Yes, all Lilikoi clothing is made of swimwear fabric and can be used both in the water and out of the water. They are also quick drying when you get out! Additionally, the sweat-wicking and odor-resistant qualities of the fabric provide maximum comfort and coolness on land.

Do all Lilikoi clothes provide sun protection?  Why should I wear UPF clothes?

Yes!  All of the fabrics used to make Lilikoi clothes are rated UPF50+, blocking 99-100% UVA & UVB rays.  Wearing clothes that are UPF rated means you don't need to use as much sunscreen.  Most sunscreens have chemicals that are not only harmful to your skin, they are also damaging to the oceans and reefs.  While it is still important to use sunscreen on the parts of your body not covered by UPF-rated clothing, we strongly encourage you to select brands that are not harmful to your body and our environment.

How do I wash Lilikoi clothes?

For best results, longest lifespan, and brightest colors, you should either wash by hand or turn the clothes inside out then machine wash on gentle cycle in cold water.  Hang to dry. No bleach and no iron.

What does "biodegradable" mean?  Does this mean my clothes will start to fall apart?

Nylon 6.6, developed by Solvay Corporation, has textile threads that are woven in a way that allows the threads to decompose under the heat and pressure conditions of a landfill. However, they will not degrade during normal, everyday usage. In fact, they retain their fit and elasticity use after use and wash after wash.

Where are Lilikoi clothes made?

All Lilikoi fabrics and clothes are manufactured in Brazil.  We personally select the brilliantly patterned fabrics, which are then sent to the manufacturer where all of the products are handmade by sewing machine operators who are paid fair wages and treated well in their work.  We frequently visit the factory where the clothes are produced and guarantee that no children are involved.

What fabric are the clothes made of?

Several different fabrics are used to make Lilikoi clothes, however, they are all rated UPF50+.  Check out Our Fabrics for more information.
